Its the Rudeness that gets me !

People say its nice to be nice; however people are intent on being rude ! Plain and simple rude... its some kind of weird slave slash owner complex, I am better than you bull shit. Why do they do it? How do  we put an end to it !  Asking a simple question can send an individual into hysteria. I love the age old question... are you the only one here? Clearly they have looked around and no one else is there ... but the girl behind the register has to hear - " Thats why no one shops here ! " "They need to hire more people"" I'm on lunch !" and my favorite - " Where is the manager?" Obviously she will appear ( with smoke and all, harp and trumpets) bringing with her a host of other employees so you can be waited on hand and foot , so you can get every possible discount known to man and an addition because you are on lunch! Understand the dynamics of the situation - its lunch time, everyone is running out to get something done, those employees are probably taking lunch too ( oh yeh - they can go at another time ... sure they don't need to eat, even though their shift probably started before yours !), its a ON DAY SALE and you are rushing !
People sometimes comment - she has a attitude - you probably would too, working long hours standing all day for top pay - $8 per hour ! And to have a supervisor breathing down their neck reminding them to ask for a hundred pieces of information from you so the business can stay afloat; may I have your e-mail, please sign up for our store card , would you like to save $0.10 today and for the rest of the year from every dollar you spend after you have spend a minimum of $1000 within the first 3 months of shopping here (smile) and you cut her off mid sentence so she can hear her supervisor tell her she has not received to required quota because she is doing SOMETHING wrong !

Complains are an excuse, a weakness which provides an opportunity, how can you turn it around... think Michelle , what are YOU going to do... how do you contribute to this company ? Well... she thinks ... I do my job to the best of my abilities... I am punctual, and I do ALL my work - SORRY MICHELLE THAT WILL NOT CUT IT ! YOU HAVE TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND ! Oh Michelle thinks... above and beyond! for $8 - that does not seem right!

Sharon's Story
Sharon works in a hair salon, a chain store. A customer enters the shop at 5:55 Sunday afternoon, says she had appointment earlier and she was hoping to get a blow out and cut now. She ( the customer) is smiling has she delivers this statement. Sharon started her shift at 11am and did not get a chance to have lunch. She really wants to help this customer but they close at 6pm and she has another  customer waiting. Sharon smiles, she apologizes and informs the customer that they  close at 6pm,... can we reschedule you for tomorrow? The smiling customer drops the smile... are you aware... here it comes, the you work for me,  you need me, without me you are... are you aware, she says that your window has a sign "walk-ins " welcome ! Sharon thinks to herself ... yes when we are open and now we about to be closed. Sharon explains that they close at 6pm and she would like to help her out but in addition to closing she also has another client. The customer is relentless, who is the manager in this place? It says walk in welcome, so I don't understand! What does that mean, pointing to the sign has she gets a little louder.  Sharon still smiling apologizes. I'm gonna complain about you! continues the customer - who has no appointment at 6pm closing. I will never come her again ! The customer leaves slamming the door behind her.

Sharon is called into the office the next day. The manager has received a complaint from the main office regarding the customer from the previous day. Sharon is instructed to call the customer and apologize and offer her a voucher for which she can come back and have a blow out, cut and color at 50% off. Sharon works on commission. But imagine having to call that same customer who was clearly rude, while Sharon was nice and having to do her hair while she gloats.

Now there is a job that help Sharon build on her self esteem.
Just because she was trying to leave her job for which she was scheduled until 6pm to pick up her son from the babysitters before 8pm!

Steve's Story

He sells men's suit in an upscale department store. A gentleman enters the department.  Well dressed he is wearing a burberry tie and what appears to be a camel colored cashmere overcoat with and double busted suit. He a preventer Steve thinks, no one is wearing double breasted anything. Welcome to the new millennium! The gentlemen is clearly flushed, alcohol perhaps! He announces ! I looking for a tie ! Steve walks over to assist, this business is commission sales. The gentleman removes his current tie and Steve questions him to ascertain his preferences regarding color, style, seven fold, hand made etc. The gentleman stays in the department for about 45 minutes trying ties. As Steve pulls ties from the neatly placed tables has suggestion so does the customer 2 and 3 at a time with less caution however , you see he does not need to fix that table of 376 ties color coordinated and styles by print and design. Every tie the customer is shown he says No! No! No! He says there was nothing he wanted. Then he starts looking for his tie. WHERE IS MY (BLEEP, BLEEP... BLEEP TIE) the gentleman his not so gentlemanly ! Do you know who I am ? I have the largest construction firm in this County ! I am ... etc. Where is the manager ? The store Manager ! The manager comes...this man wants a new tie !

Steve losses commission !

Thank You !

The Hell called Retail

You know what I'm talking about ! Hi, ( big smile ) how are you to today ? No! you misunderstood. I don't mean HELL for consumers, I mean HELL for employees ! The United States Department of Labor reported in 2010 :
Median Pay - $20,990 per year
                    - $10.09 per hour
Requirements - Less than high school
Number of Jobs - 4,465,500
Employment change from 2010 to 2020 -  739,400

So at least 4 million people across the United States are employed in some kind of retail setting. This includes salesperson, parts sales, clothing, furniture parts and repair etc. Median pay $10.09 really the 9 cents does not count ! Median ! some higher some lower, you may say but look at the educational requirements, but have you ever work in retail? Some stores have new employees where a pin "I assist in all departments " - That mean I can go anywhere! Second floor, basement ANYWHERE !

NOW median means some lower some higher ! I believe people on average start at about $7.50 an hour so you can assist in ALL department !

FORGET about that thing called the weekend ! " YOU are required to work Saturdays and Sundays".

DON'T have kids !

FORGET FAMILY time such as CHRISTMAS and THANKSGIVING ! ( Look for an edition of that horrible BLACK FRIDAY !)

DON'T EVEN THINK OF GETTING SICK !

NEVER SCHEDULE ANYTHING unless ... NEVER SCHEDULE ANYTHING PERSONAL
RETAIL DEFINES YOUR SCHEDULE !

ALL that luxury so you can be call B***ch by the customer you could not return the worn jeans. AS you say "Thank you, come again !"
